The Whole Farm Approach (WFA) is designed to lighten the regulatory burden on farmers and growers in England. It offers a faster and more efficient way of doing business between government and the farming industry and over time will help reduce the number of duplicated requests farmers receive from Defra and its agencies for information.

These pages provide background on the programme and enable you to sign up for the WFA.

Whole Farm Approach - Latest

From 18 November 2007 the Whole Farm Approach will see the following new features:

  • Streamlined registration process – instant return of SASPINs (user ID’s) to enable users to complete the registration process and access WFA in one session
  • 'Guest login' account – some content will be restricted but users will be able to get a look and feel of the system and services available before signing-up
  • A fully searchable library of up-to-date advice and guidance on farming regulation
  • Diary dates – highlighting key regulatory dates, events and other partner messages
  • Access to an e-mail alerts system from ‘Alerts online’ which will enable farmers to receive WFA, agricultural, government and other news direct to their e-mail accounts

Whole Farm Approach – Catchment Sensitive Farming (16 September 2007)

A new catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF) Advisory Tool is now available to farmers and growers via the Whole Farm Approach. The CSF Advisory Tool is designed to work online and does not require a CDRom.

The aim of the Tool is to complement the work being carried out through the England Catchment Sensitive Farming Delivery Initiative (ECSFDI).

 

Whole Farm Approach is now IE7 compatible (20 August 2007)

From Monday 20 August, the Whole Farm Approach was fully compatible with Internet Explorer 7.0 (IE7) and windows Vista packages.

Waste exemption licences
Farmers and growers can continue to register their Waste Exemption Licences through the Whole Farm Approach.
