Grants and funding: What do you want to do?

Defra's schemes are organised under three major headings.

  • Sustainable Farming and Food
    Specific grants and funding opportunities aimed at agriculture and food industry regeneration and development.
    Brings together various schemes to help deliver the Sustainable Farming and Food Strategy objectives to create a more market driven and economically sustainable sector.

  • Sustainable Rural Communities
    Specific grants and funding opportunities aimed at rural regeneration, including funding in support of the rural voluntary and community sector.
    Brings together various schemes to create a single rural regeneration funding programme.

  • Natural Resource Protection
    Specific grants and funding opportunities aimed at environmental land management and natural resource protection.
    Brings together various schemes covering environmental land management (including bio-diversity, landscape conservation, access to the countryside and soil and water protection).

These funding programmes are structured to deliver the three Defra Rural Strategic Priorities and accompanying Public Service Agreements (nos. 3, 4 and 5). See "background".
