APHC and Interbuild 2008

A NEW HEATING & PLUMBING PAVILION is being launched at Interbuild 2008 (Sunday 26th – Thursday 30th October at Birmingham’s NEC). Leading trade body the Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC), is supporting the area entirely dedicated to showcasing the very latest developments from across the heating, plumbing and ventilating industries.

National Plumbing and Heating Weekend

Places are filling up for APHC’s National Plumbing and Heating Weekend, as employers in the industry look forward to hearing from the individuals at the heart of some of the most pressing industry issues of the day. A day of seminars is led by keynote speaker, Les Philpott, Director of Utilities Interventions at the Health & Safety Executive. Les has been in charge of the controversial Gas Review and should provide a fascinating insight into the process. The National Plumbing and Heating Weekend takes place on 13-14 June 2008 at the prestigious Queen’s Hotel in Leeds.

5% VAT Call by APHC and Cross-Industry Coalition

The Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC) has become a key player in the cross-industry “Cut the VAT Coalition”. The Coalition aims to persuade Government to cut VAT from 17.5% to 5% on all building repair and maintenance work. The benefits of doing this are enormous and widespread, with APHC particularly interested in the damage it could do to rogue traders who ignore VAT in order to charge a lower price. With VAT at only 5%, their price advantage over qualified engineers would be minimal and using them would become far less attractive.

Outstanding Speakers To Attract Nation’s Plumbers To APHC Event

Les Philpott, Director of Utilities Interventions at the Health & Safety Executive, will be making the keynote address at the APHC annual National Plumbing and Heating Weekend. The timing of the event means it is highly likely to be very close to the HSE’s announcement of which organisation has been chosen to run the reformed gas installer registration scheme.

Incomplete Advice Could Risk A Further 1.5 Million Homes

Rhianna Hardie coroner underestimates potential risk from failing heating appliances. APHC is warning that even more homes could be affected by potential failings in their hot water systems than the 3.5 million suggested by coroner Michael Rose, following the tragic death of Rhianna Hardie.
