New Year Honours List 2008
The New Year Honours List for 2008 has now been released. This is the
first Honours List recommended by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and its aim
is to reflect and pay tribute to outstanding achievement and service
across the entire community.
Data Handling Procedures in Government
In November the Prime Minister asked the Cabinet Secretary to establish a
review into data handling procedures in Government. The Review led by
Robert Hannigan, Head of Intelligence, Resilience and Security in the
Cabinet Office, working closely with heads of departments has now
published its interim progress report.
Capability Reviews
Cabinet Secretary, Sir Gus O’Donnell, has announced the publication of
two more Capability Reviews for HM Treasury and HM Revenue & Customs.
These reviews are published alongside a ‘Progress and Next Steps’ report
focusing on follow-up actions made by the departments assessed in the
first tranche of reviews.
Autumn Performance Report 2007
The 2007 Cabinet Office Autumn Performance Report has been published. The
report provides information on the latest progress against the Cabinet
Office’s Public Service Agreement (PSA) targets agreed as part of the
2004 Spending Review (SR 2004).
The Pitt Review - Learning Lessons from the 2007 floods
The Pitt Review has released its interim report on the causes and
consequences of the summer 2007 floods, and the lessons to be learned
from them.
Cabinet Office Simplification Plan
The Cabinet Office has released its Simplification Plan for 2007 as part
of the Government's drive for better regulation, simplification plans
are updated annually by all major government department and agencies.
Publication of Sir Suma Chakrabarti's Review of the Role of the
Cabinet Office
The Review of the Role of the Cabinet Office by Sir Suma Chakrabarti sets
out the findings of his review on the purpose of the Cabinet Office; how
it should carry out its activities; and what this means for the Cabinet
Office and civil service governance and leadership. The report has been
published together with the Cabinet Secretary's response to the
report.
