 Policy and research

In this section of the site you will find details of our strategic policy work, the research that we have commissioned, and information about how we are working to develop policy and law in order to improve equality and human rights in Britain.

Briefings

As part of our work to influence policy and legal developments, the Commission often produces briefing papers on issues of relevance to our work. You will find details of our briefings, including Parliamentary and legal briefings, in this section.

The Commission undertakes its own consultations and also frequently responds to consultations from Government. You can find details of incoming and outgoing consultations in this section.

Human Rights submissions

As an official human rights body, one of the Commission’s roles is to submit evidence and reports to the various international human rights committees, relating to the situation in Britain. You will find copies of these various reports in this section.

Research projects

We undertake and commission research in order to add to the body of knowledge about equality and human rights issues and to ensure that our work is evidence based. This section details of research projects established by the Commission and that are expected to result in published reports.

Using our legal powers

Part of the Commission’s remit is to enforce equality legislation  and encourage compliance with the Human Rights Act. Our enforcement powers allow us to investigate whether organisations and businesses are complying with their legal duties regarding equality. You will find information about the investigations we are carrying out, or have concluded in this section.
