On 7th March 2005, the Government launched its new strategy for sustainable development, "Securing The Future"
The Strategy is based on five principles: Living Within Environmental Limits; Ensuring a Strong, Healthy and Just Society; Achieving a Sustainable Economy; Promoting Good Governance; and Using Sound Science Responsibly. It also sets out shared priority areas for UK action: Sustainable Consumption and Production; Climate Change and Energy; Natural Resource Protection and Environmental Enhancement; and Sustainable Communities.
It also highlights the renewed international push for sustainable development from the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002. click here for more information.
