Regional funding allocations

Regional funding allocations: Guidance on preparing advice provides indicative regional allocations across the inter-related areas of transport, housing and economic development. These indicative allocations are intended to enable regions to better align their strategies and provide an enhanced input into Government policy development and future public spending decisions.

To provide clearer planning assumptions for the regions, the guidance sets out:

  • For the first time, regional transport allocations for three years up to and including 2007-08, in line with the regional housing and regional economic development allocations already published; and
  • Indicative longer term planning assumptions for regional allocations, beyond the three years of the current spending review period, across the three funding streams.

The guidance also explains how advice from the regions on regional funding allocations should be prepared and submitted to the Government to have greatest influence on Government policy development and future spending decisions.
