The UK Coal Forum: Chairman

Sir John Collins is Chair of the Coal Forum.  He has served as Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment (ACBE); and Chairman of the DTI Energy Advisory Panel.  He is Chairman of the DTI/Defra Sustainable Energy Policy Advisory Board (SEPAB).  He is currently President of the Energy Institute, the professional corporate and personal membership body for the energy industries.

Sir John was appointed Chairman of DSG International (previously known as Dixons) in September 2002, having joined the Board as Deputy Chairman in September 2001.   He has been Chairman and CEO of Shell UK, CEO of the Vestey Group, Chairman of National Power (nPower) and Cantab Pharmaceuticals.

Sir John is due to retire as President of the Energy Institute in June 2007 and has indicated that he saw that as a suitable time also to step down from the chairmanship of the Coal Forum.
