International trade - Exports of animals, animal products and germplasm to European Union (EU) Member States

Due to the cases of FMD in the UK in August 2007 restrictions are in place with regards to exports of some susceptible animals and products to the EU and Third Countries. For more detailed information on this please see our Export pages and our FMD: Export Information page.

For further information on Export Health Certificates, and negotiations currently underway to restore trade routes, please see our Export Certificate User Group (ECUG) webpage.

Exporters wanting to export live animals, animal products or germplasm to an EU Member State will likely need some form of documentation in the form of health certification signed by a government approved ‘Official Veterinarian’, or, in the case of some animal products, commercial documentation.
