The DTI's Renewables website provides information about renewable energy and the different renewable energy technologies, the
UK Government policy and the Renewables Obligation, UK planning policy and planning processes, and the various financial support
programmes including investing in renewables technologies. There is also information on the work of the Renewables Advisory
Board (RAB), Press releases and renewables’ events as well as a comprehensive publications database and an interactive map
of UK Renewable Energy projects (see 'Planning' page via the left-hand menu).
Renewable energy is an integral part of the Government's longer-term aim of reducing CO2 emissions by 60% by 2050. The Government
has set a target of 10% of electricity supply from renewable energy by 2010. In 2004, 3.1% of the UK's electricity supply
came from eligible sources of renewable energy. During the same period, 3.6% of the UK's electricity supply came from all
sources of renewable energy.
We believe It's Only Natural that you should want to know more about renewable energy.
