(B) IF MADE REDUNDANT ON OR AFTER 1 OCTOBER 2006
For redundancies made on or after 1 October 2006, the amount will be calculated as follows–
- Up to the age of 21 - 0.5 week’s pay for each completed year of service
- 22 - 40 years of age - 1 week’s pay for each completed year of service
- 41+ years of age - 1.5 weeks’ pay for each completed year of service
To calculate the number of weeks pay per year of service that you are entitled to use table 2 and:
a) Identify your age; then b) Identify your years of service
The corresponding figure will be the number of weeks redundancy pay that you are entitled to. For example, if you are 38 years
old and have 12 years of service, you will be entitled to 12 weeks redundancy pay.
For the definition of a week’s pay, see Redundancy Payments.
The maximum week’s pay that an employee is entitled to under the statutory scheme is £290. The limit changes annually in line
with the Retail Prices Index (up or down) as appropriate.
This page is intended only as a guide and shows how statutory redundancy pay is calculated for people who are entitled to
receive it. Whether or not you are entitled to redundancy pay will depend on your individual circumstances.
To calculate your redundancy entitlement, please fill in the three fields below and click Submit button:
To see how this figure has been calculated, please see table 2 below

Redundancy Payments Offices
18* [1] - It is possible that an individual could start to build up continuous service before age 16, but this is likely
to be rare, and therefore we have started Table 2 from age 18.
61* [2] – The same figures should be used when calculating the redundancy payment for a person aged 61 and above.
