Ofsted – Better education and care Ofsted – Better education and care

Welcome to Ofsted

Annual performance assessments published today

The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) and the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) are today publishing the second round of annual performance assessments (APA) for 102 local authorities.

Welcome to the new Ofsted website

What is different?

Quite a lot. There is now a much improved search tool, and we have updated our site to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for. 'Forms and guidance' is the place to find more information about how we work, and to download inspection frameworks, guidance leaflets and other documents. The 'inspection reports' section now gives you a direct link to reports published this week, and still offers the familiar searches by postcode and service type. Visit the 'publications and research' section to read the latest findings from our inspections of schools, childcare and further education.

Contact us

We hope that this website is a great forward step in making it easier for you, our customers, to get the information and documents you are looking for. If you have further questions, visit the contact us page and get through to the person who can answer your query.

What we do

Inspection is at the heart of the government's drive for high quality public services and helps to ensure that the users and providers of public services have the information they need. We use our evidence to advise on approaches to caring for and supporting children and on the effectiveness of different types of educational provision. We also assess the progress of particular initiatives and government strategies.
