The Daily Telegraph: "Letters to the editor"

Dan Mitchell, HSE Chief Inspector of Mines responds - 17 March 2006

Blaming the HSE (letters 15 March) is all too easy. However, contrary to Mr Owen Jones' letter, HSE's mines inspectors have received no approach regarding permission for him to visit a coal mine in Chesterfield. We would not expect to, since decisions on admitting visitors are entirely, and rightly, a matter for the mine's owner and manager.
