Who We Are

The Environment Planning and Countryside Committee was established in May 2003, following elections for the second term of the National Assembly of Wales.  The Committee's remit is based on the portfolio of the Minister for Planning and Countryside, Carwyn Jones AM. It brings together all aspects of the Government's responsibility for sustainable development of the countryside and the environment, and provides a unique opportunity to deliver a more joined up approach across a range of important issues. It embraces: planning; environmental policy, including countryside issues; the National Parks Authorities; agricultural and rural affairs and Cadw (ancient monuments and listed and historic buildings).

Gareth Jones is Director of the ENVIRONMENT, PLANNING AND COUNTRYSIDE DEPARTMENT and June Milligan is responsible for the Environment Division.
