Productivity and Competitiveness

The DTI's mission is to drive up productivity through successful business, excellent science and innovation and fair markets. Productivity is important because higher productivity means higher wages, higher profits and better public services.

The analysis behind the DTI's approach to driving up productivity and competitiveness has been set out in the UK Productivity and Competitiveness Indicators 2003. The Government has also developed a series of policies to tackle the long-standing weaknesses of the UK economy. Both the analysis, and policy statements, can be accessed by clicking on the titles below.
