The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill received its second reading in Parliament on Thursday 9 February. The Bill aims to provide a swift and effective mechanism for delivering the Government's radical regulatory reform programme to cut red tape.

The Better Regulation Executive has published 'Regulatory Justice: Sanctioning in a post-Hampton World', a discussion paper exploring some of the findings made in the Hampton Report regarding penalties. The paper identifies areas which the review is interested in exploring when considering reform, and invites responses by mid-February 2006.
The Better Regulation Executive has published 'Reducing Burdens in Colleges of Further Education', a report of the joint-project carried out with the Department for Education & Skills and the Learning & Skills Council. The report makes 26 recommendations aimed at reducing the amount of unnecessary demands placed on all front line staff in further education.
