Supporting the Middle East Peace Process through economic development
On 21 September 2005 the Chancellor of the Exchequer commissioned a report into the opportunities to support economic development to accompany and enhance the peace process.

UK Implementation of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Directive 2004/39/EC)
This consultation deals with the legislative changes the Government will need to make to transpose the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MIFID) into UK law. The purpose of the consultation is to explore the different options available to the Government to achieve proportionate implementation consistent with principles of better regulation.

Planning-gain Supplement: a consultation
This consultation forms part of the Government's response to Kate Barker's recommendation for a Planning-gain Supplement (PGS).  PGS would capture a modest portion of the increase in land value created by the grant of planning permission, to help finance the infrastructure needed to stimulate and service housing growth and ensure that local communities better share in the benefits that growth brings.

Regulatory Reform Order: A consultation on proposed changes to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000
This Regulatory Reform Order proposes to reduce regulatory burdens on industry which stem from the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, in particular removing restrictions, requirements, inconsistencies and anomalies which relate to how the Financial Services Authority (FSA) operates. This proposed Order should provide for better-targeted FSA regulation which is more risk-based, and includes proposals to remove unnecessary or disproportionate consultation burdens placed by the FSA on industry, and to enable the FSA to deregulate more freely by issuing waivers and modifications to rules in a wider range of circumstances.
