About us

The Home Office is the government department responsible for ensuring we live in a safe, just and tolerant society. We are responsible for the police in England and Wales, national security, the justice system and immigration.

Our work is organised around five key aims, which contribute towards our overriding mission: to build a safe, just and tolerant society.

This section explains how we are working to turn that vision into reality, as well as introducing our department and its many and varied constituent parts.
