Your Letters

We firmly believe that a strong civil society, able to scrutinise and question the government freely, is vitally important in helping the FCO to promote human rights abroad.

There are some issues that attract very high-levels of NGO and public concern and about which many people send us letters. So that we can respond as quickly and efficiently as possible, we have decided to put our response to some of the most common concerns raised in these letters on-line.

We have received a number of letters on the following issues:

Indigenous People (01/12/04)

Persecution of Christians in Eritrea, Peru and Sri Lanka (06/07/04)

Recent Violence in Northern and Central Nigeria (18/06/04)
