What are Human Rights?

This section explains the Government's approach to human rights and why they are at the heart of UK foreign policy. It highlights the importance of applying consistent standards to all countries and of being held accountable for the commitments the Government makes. A list is also available of the multilateral institutions that play a key role in international efforts to promote human rights.
