Our aim is to reach out to our foreign diplomatic guests to help them enjoy their posting in London and leave the UK with warm and positive memories of the country, its people and the FCO.
We do this through our groups situated around the London area, run by Group Co-ordinators, who organise local activities, offer help in settling into the area and introduce their members to British friends.
From the central Diplomatic Neighbours office, we organise the following:
A programme of cultural activities with an event each month designed to show all aspects of the culture and life of our country.
An on going programme of visits to all the latest art exhibitions in London, led by a well-known art historian.
A quarterly newsletter to keep members up to date with our programme and provide articles and information of current interest.
An annual Welcome Coffee held each September in the beautiful and historic Locarno Suite, which brings together representatives from many organisations, such as the National Trust, VisitBritain and many more and gives members a chance to meet old and new friends.
Membership of Diplomatic Neighbours is open to the spouses of foreign diplomats or officials with diplomatic status from the following organisations:
Spouses/partners of foreign Diplomatic Service officers on a tour of duty in the UK;
Spouses/partners of officials of international organisations serving in the UK eg: The Commonwealth Secretariat;
Spouses/partners of officers attending the Royal College of Defence Studies (Group membership).
