PM CONDEMNS 'APPALLING ATTACKS IN BALI'

The Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has condemned the 'appalling attacks in Bali' on 1 October 2005. Mr Blair said 'our thoughts are with the victims and their families.' He continued: 'The UK was deeply grateful for and moved by the support and sympathy given by the Indonesian government and people after the attacks in July in London. We stand by Indonesia at this very difficult time.'

LORD TRIESMAN: FCO TEAMS SENT TO BALI

Following the Bali Bombings on 1 October 2005, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has sent teams made up of 'experts in repatriation, in health problems and other matters' to the area. In an interview with BBC News 24 on Saturday 1 October, Lord Triesman said: 'There's a team led by the Ambassador who is on his way together with a team of specialists, people who are experts in repatriation in health problems and other matters. And there are teams that have been dispatched from Hong Kong and from London.'

FCO MINISTER CONDEMNS ATTACK IN WEST DARFUR

Commenting on the recent reported attack on a camp for internally displaced people in West Darfur, and referring to the recent EU Presidency statement, the Foreign Office Minister for Africa, Lord Triesman said: 'I thoroughly condemn this terrible attack. The people in these camps had already fled their homes because of this conflict.' The Minster added on 2 October: 'It is totally unacceptable that they are now subject to violence in the very place they have fled for refuge.'
