Under Freedom of Information, the FCO, like all other public bodies, provides and maintains a Publication Scheme, giving details of what information is already made available by the FCO, what other information may be made available in the future, and how to identify and ask for further information.

Official Documents provides access to official FCO documents published since 1997. These include Annual Reports, Command Papers, Consultations, Historical and research papers and Treaties.

The FCO Library holds the collections of the old Foreign Office and Colonial Office. It also houses a unique photographic record of British colonial and diplomatic history dating from the late 19th century. Members of the public are welcome to visit the library for research (by appointment only).
