Report of MAS Activities up to the end of September 2004

Since the inception of MAS, over £80 million of added value has been reported

This document is the report on the DTIs Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) up to the end of September 2004. This report includes the progress of the service during the third quarter of 2004 (1 July to 30 September 2004) and the cumulative progress since the start of MAS services. MAS is now approaching the end of its third year, with Regional Centres continuing to achieve high levels of activity. The MAS is now an established service providing specialist manufacturing advice through the three primary strands of activity

MAS Regional Centres established through partnerships between DTI and the Regional Development Agencies in England and Wales. The Regional Centres deliver the MAS in their respective regions in association with Business Links; A National Network of Centres of Expertise in Manufacturing (CEMs) which complement the MAS and to which companies can turn for further advice; A dedicated National MAS Website providing access to all parts of the MAS and containing structured complementary sources of information for manufacturers.

During the third quarter of 2004, the momentum of the programme was maintained across all regions, with a continuing uptake of all the types of support on offer. Since the inception of MAS, over £80 million of added value has been reported by the Regional Centres, based upon more than 1,150 interventions for which results are now available.
