Consultation Paper - Employment Act Proposals
on Limiting Conciliation
Today the Government has published a consultation
document which includes proposals for fixed
period conciliation in employment tribunal
cases. At the same time Acas has published
its own consultation
document explaining
why it will only be able to conciliate outside
the fixed period in exceptional circumstances.
Comments on the proposals in this paper
should be received by 5 March 2004 - added

Acas is revising its Code of Practice on Disciplinary
and Grievance Procedures to take account of the statutory
procedures likely to become a requirement for all organisations
from 1 October 2004 - 14.01.04
New help for small companies
and the people who work for them.
The Acas pilot
mediation scheme has been extended to cover
the whole of London as well as Yorkshire & the Humber.
The scheme is designed to help employers and employees
keep out of industrial tribunals, is for companies with
fewer than 50 employees - 05.01.04
