Renewable energy comes from continuously available sources which do not rely
on exhaustible fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. The main sources of
renewable energy in the UK are wind (both on and offshore), the sun (solar
photovoltaics), water (conventional hydro, and the developing technologies of
tidal stream and wave) and biomass (including energy crops).
There is information about Government policy and the Renewables
Obligation, the work of the Renewables Advisory Board (RAB), the services offered by Renewables UK, the different technologies
and resources with the technology route maps, our financial support programmes
and background and links on international activities and programmes.
Press releases and renewables’ events are listed under ‘News’ and
there is a comprehensive publications database.
Planners, local councilors and investors
should look at our new "Its only
natural" website. This focuses on their particular interests.
Information on cleaner fossil fuels technology is available in the coal part
of the Energy website.
