Family friendly working

Women may be heading for disappointment over their pay says Equal Opportunities Commission. The EOC released survey results on women's and men's expectations on their earnings as it launched its new pay campaign entitled, It's time to get even.

The House of Lords Economic Affairs Select Committee's proposal for a universal state pension paid on the basis of citizenship rather than national insurance contributions record would be a massive boost to women's well-being in retirement, Julie Mellor, Chair of the EOC, said today.

Press release: Fatherhood expert appointed to key EOC role
Sex equality will remain out of reach until more fathers are supported in their wish to play an active role in caring for their children, Julie Mellor said today. She welcomed the appointment as an EOC commissioner of Duncan Fisher, Director of Fathers Direct, the UK's national information centre on fatherhood.
