Update on Implementing the Technology Strategy and Technology Programme

The Technology Strategy and Programme represents a significant development in government policy.

The first call under the Technology Programme was made on 28th January in the field of micro and nanotechnology, previously announced as a technology priority.

The second call under the Technology Programme will be announced on 26th April 2004 when we will be seeking applications in 7 other areas highlighted as important in the Innovation Report. Visit Open Calls.

Over the next few months the Technology Strategy Board will be recruited, and at their first meeting will continue the process of developing the Technology Strategy. Their early conclusions will shape the next call for applications under the Technology Programme in October 2004.

The Technology Strategy Board will refine the Strategy, with the results shaping a further call for applications in April 2005. At this time the Strategy will be published.

Beyond April 2005 we plan to instigate a regular cycle of biannual calls (April and October) in areas directed by the Technology Strategy.
