Collaborative Research & Development
This cost involved in bringing basic research to market can be an inhibiting
factor for many businesses. Collaborative
R&D, part of the Technology Programme, aims to get
industry engaging with the research community, exploring ideas that are at an
early stage of development, with a view to eventual commercialisation.
This can be difficult to do on your own, and Collaborative R&D encourages
you to work in partnership with other businesses.
To drive these goals, DTI take some of the financial risk out of the
venture, in the form of a Grant support for between 25% and 75% of your own and
your business partners R&D costs. (EU State Aid rules will apply).
Projects that may be supported are those that are;
- Science
–business as well as business-business consortia
- Exploiting
basic research with the manufacturing
and/or service sectors
- Perform
well against selection criteria; including potential economic
benefit to the UK, project risk, social and environmental
benefits, consortia organisation quality and the strength of
the project management team.
Applications may be made from organisations
seeking to collaborate with international partners within the
Eureka network. The application should be copied to the UK
EUREKA Unit to ensure formal endorsement as a
Eureka project.
Further details of the key
technology areas currently being supported can be found under open
calls.
