Aerospace Innovation and Growth Team

Launched on 16 May 2002 by Patricia Hewitt, the Secretary of State, the Aerospace Innovation and Growth Team is a partnership venture to improve innovation and competitiveness in the aerospace industry. The team, including representatives from industry, government and other stakeholders, is led by Sir Richard Evans, Chairman of BAE SYSTEMS. The aim is to secure agreement between government and industry on a shared vision and strategy for the future.

In announcing the initiative, Patricia Hewitt said

"The aerospace industry in the UK has been very successful, but it is facing increasing competition from other parts of the world. The Innovation and Growth Team is a great opportunity for the key stakeholders to work together for the future success of the industry. I am delighted that Sir Richard has agreed to lead the team"
