Army Benevolent Fund to hold 60th Anniversary Spectacular

The Army’s national charity, the Army Benevolent Fund, celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2004. BOWMAN communications system enters service

British Services Makalu Expedition 2004

The British Army are providing nearly half of the personnel, ten, that are in the Joint services team that will be attempting to climb three peaks in the Himilayas. The main team of 14 will climb Makalu at 8463m, whilst a smaller team of 12 will climb the two smaller peaks of Baruntse (7124m) and Mera (6476m). To follow their progress Click here.
  

Buster the dog receives his bravery award

  Buster, the Army Springer spaniel search dog whose bravery during the recent conflict in Iraq won him the PDSA’s Dickin Medal, has been presented with the inaugural Philip Green Memorial Trophy at the Crufts dog show. To read the full story, Click here.

Surrey Police publish report on Deepcut Investigations

  The Surrey Police have published a final report into Army initial training practices, which was compiled against the background of the tragic deaths of four soldiers at the Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut, between 1995 and 2002. For more information click here.

Soldiers set for new leadership skills qualifications

  British Army soldiers will soon have the opportunity to develop further their command, leadership and management skills whilst gaining externally certified qualifications, through a new partnership with the Chartered Management Institute. For more information Click here.

New Command structure for the Britain's Reserve Forces

  A new  2-Star (equivalent to Major-General) post of Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff (Reserves and Cadets) has been created and will be held by a Reservist. This is the first occasion in modern times that a Reservist has held a 2-Star appointment. Click here to read more.
