This White
Paper sets out the Government's core proposals for simplifying
and modernising company law, especially for small companies;
for providing a legal framework for all companies which
reflects the needs of the modern economy; and for ensuring
it remains up to date in the future.

Company Law Review
- Trading Disclosures, a Consultation Paper.
This consultation
paper (40Kb)
is restricted in scope to the law related to trading disclosures.
The proposals aim to simplify, clarifying update the law,
closing loopholes and removing anomalies.
The deadline for comments was 12 April

A consultation document
(91 Kb) was published
in June 2000 by the Company Law Review Steering Group on proposed
changes to the capital maintenance regime.

- Developing the Framework URN 00/656
This is the second strategic consultation document
issued by the Steering Group.
This document analyses and makes proposals on
key areas of "governance" of companies (i.e. the
main rules governing their operation and control including
transparency rules) and on small and private companies.

The deadline for comments on Chapters 6-8 and
