DTI follow-up consultation on used tyre recovery issues further to 2002 discussion paper on possible statutory producer responsibility measures for tyres

This is the second consultation on used tyre disposal, (141 Kb) following up the 2002 discussion paper, which examined a possible statutory producer responsibility model for used tyres. Links to this earlier paper, together with a summary of the responses received are provided below. The second consultation paper asks the tyre industry to provide clear industry accountability for used tyres. The paper also seeks views on the introduction of statutory reporting requirements on those engaged in the supply of new tyres and the disposal of used tyres, and recommends the reconstitution of the Used Tyre Working Group. Responses are invited by 6 June 2003.
