GUIDE TO THE EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS (DISPUTE RESOLUTION) ACT 1998
The Act, which was passed on 8 April 1998, amends legislation relating to the resolution of individual employment rights disputes - most notably: the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, the Race Relations Act 1976, the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, the Employment Tribunals Act 1996 and the Employment Rights Act 1996. Some of its provisions came into force on that date, but the majority will be brought into force subsequently by a commencement order SI 1998/1658 (C.32). The commencement dates for those provisions are identified within this site.
The provisions in this Act will be mirrored in Northern Ireland by the Employment Rights (Dispute Resolution) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.
