Business Community

Some local communities depend on nuclear sites for much of their business. It is expected that the new clean up arrangements will have a positive impact on these communities in the short to medium term. New impulse to local businesses
Renewed activity and injections of investment is likely to have a positive impact and the NDA will want to maximise opportunities for local businesses.

NDA's commitment to community
In some areas, clean up will be the main source of employment, and the NDA will be a major player for a very long period of time. The NDA will wish to play a positive role in each of its communities and will expect its contractors to do the same. Hence, the NDA will look closely at potential contractors' approach to community support and once in place will measure their performance in this respect.

Making contact with NDA contractors
A database of contractors is being compiled by the LMU as part of the process of preparing the ground for the NDA. This list should be useful for those in local communities who wish to make business to business contacts. If you would like to feature on this list you can access the contractor form shown in the right hand column.

Opportunities to participate in decision making
You do not have to wait for the NDA to become operational in order to make your views known. The DTI's programme of regional events, which started in March, are one way you can make your views known. Another is to comment on those documents that the Department will be publishing for comment over the coming months. And, one of the many purposes of this website is to enable people to input their ideas, opinions and comments as and when they wish to do so. Contact details can be found in the right hand column.
