Management best practice

This Site provides access to a range of information and services designed to help companies improve their business performance through management best practices, techniques and technologies.

Many of the services designed to address these issues are delivered through the Small Business Services (SBS) and their Business Link franchises (Business Shops in Scotland and Business Connect in Wales) or through Trade Associations.

In addition, supported by the DTI, Fit for the Future is a CBI led response to calls from business for a national campaign to boost the transfer of effective business practices.

The DTI has produced, in association with industry, three reports that provide a framework for the use of the key ingredients identified in successful UK companies -

Partnerships with People  - practical guidance to help successful organisations bring the best out of their people to achieve significantlyenhanced business performance.

• Competitiveness - How the best UK Companies are Winning : produced by DTI and CBI, this describes the key characteristics common to over 100 successful UK companies.
  
  
• Closing the Gap : The Performance of UK SMEs within the UK Benchmarking Index reviews the performance of UK small and medium enterprises who have measured themselves against other companies by using the Benchmark Index.
