Click on segments of the Route Planner to view the underlying maps. Some of the larger maps are divided into more specialised ‘local’ maps. Each contains a network of checkpoints (or text boxes) summarising laws and compliance procedures. Follow the links provided, or choose your own route through a map. Where necessary, checkpoints refer to further detail which is located in annexes.

The arrows on the Route Planner show the order in which you might address the various regulatory hurdles. Thus, Maps A to C are common ground. You would go on to consider Map D and perhaps Map E if you were planning to work with GMOs, and then examine the regulation appropriate to your intended product or professional discipline (Maps F-I).

We advise you to study all applicable maps and the related guidance before setting out on a new enterprise - regulatory non-compliances, for instance in the starting materials for a medicinal product, can be costly and result in lengthy delays.
