Outcome of Recent Appeals

CONSUMER CREDIT ACT 1974

APPEAL TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE FROM A DETERMINATION OF THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING 

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry received an appeal by Swan Garage (Bosham) Limited of Terminus Road, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 2TX against a determination of the Office of Fair Trading to revoke its consumer credit licence under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

A public hearing of this appeal took place in London on 26-28 August 2003 before a panel of persons appointed by the Secretary of State to hear the appeal on her behalf. The panel made a report to the Secretary of State.

Notice is now given that, on 18 September 2003, the Secretary of State, having considered the panel’s report and having accepted its recommendations, decided to allow the appeal.
