UK Communication Directory update

The Communications Directory is now available and can be viewed at www.dti.gov.uk/ukcomms The directory brings together world-class products and services from a wide range of companies. It is intended as more of a shop window on the UK communications industry rather than a comprehensive catalogue of all UK communication companies. The products and services represented range from telecoms equipment to services such as installation, network planning and consultancy.

e-TEN (TEN-Telecom) update

The Commission is re-examining the approach adopted by the eTEN (TEN-Telecom) programme to try to focus more clearly on the introduction of public-interest services. The next call is likely to be in April 2003, closing September, and will address areas identified through consultation with key stakeholders.

Advice and assistance to SMEs on Information Security

The DTI's new Information Security pages can now be viewed on the UK online for business site at www.ukonlineforbusiness.gov.uk The new web resource is intended to offer easy to understand information and advice about a variety of security issues and is aimed principally at smaller companies.

e-Business Prospects Report

A new report on e-Business Prospects was launched on 24th October 2002. With around 70% of businesses having websites and interaction facilities online in the UK, this report investigates the current status and anticipated development of e-business in the UK over the next five years. The study identifies the main facilitators and inhibitors to the success of e-Business and examines the main human and organisational issues related to e-business. This report can be accessed at www.ukonlineforbusiness.gov.uk
