The Department of Trade and Industry
has prepared a number of pieces of guidance on the national minimum
wage.
Short guides to the national minimum wage:
A Detailed Guide to the National Minimum Wage
(293Kb) is a comprehensive guide to the National Minimum Wage
Act 1998 and National Minimum Wage Regulations 1999.
The
Minimum Wage and Therapeutic Work
( 69Kb) explains how the NMW applies in relation to what is often
known as 'therapeutic work': people doing work (or work-like activities)
for therapeutic reasons.
There is also
a series of Management Best Practice booklets
for employers, which are available in
pdf format. These cover the following sectors:

Social Care
There is also
