The Regional Selective Assistance scheme attracts investment in the Assisted Areas for projects with fixed capital costs of more than £500,000.

The DTI's Small Firms Loan Guarantee underwrites loans from banks and other financial institutions for small businesses. The initiative is for businesses that have failed to obtain a conventional loan because of a lack of security.
