The Home Safety
Network was launched in 2000 to help
reduce the high toll of serious home accidents in the UK, and is
intended to help inform safety professionals and the public of the
hazards.
The Home Safety
Network aims to bring together resources and publicity materials
produced by DTI and others to provide information about research
into related topics and about any events taking place around the country.
The intention is not
to duplicate or compete with the excellent work already being
carried out by other government departments, local authorities, the Royal
Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), the Child
Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT), Help
the Aged and others, but
rather to complement their work by providing a more inclusive
framework which promotes more ‘joined-up’ and effective
working in preventing accidents in the home.
