Public Appointments
The DTI is responsible for over 60 public bodies and for various tribunals. In total DTI Ministers make around 3,000 appointments to these bodies.
The appointments are to bodies that range enormously in size, function and areas of responsibility. Many of them require skills and abilities to be found in individuals from a broad range of backgrounds - not just those with industry experience - and, more importantly, offer individuals the opportunity to play an active part in contributing to interesting and demanding areas of work that affect us all.
The Chairs and Members of these bodies are appointed in line with the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments
We would like these bodies to be representative of the diverse community of people that they serve, so we would like to actively encourage applications from groups often under represented, such as ethnic minorities, women and those with disabilities. Do not be put off by a lack of business experience; a business background is not essential, if you feel you can contribute to the role then we encourage you to apply.
