The Work-Life Balance campaign

The Work life Balance campaign was originally launched in 2000 by the Prime Minister.  Much has been achieved in the past 3 years both in the provision of the new legislation and in in the spread of best practice.  Results from oursecond Work-Life Balance study published in November this year, show strong support for Work Life Balance and an increase in provision.

However now is not the time to be complacent.  The DTI Strategy "Prosperity For All" launched in September 2003 provides us with the opportunity to sharpen our own strategic campaign focus.

Work organisation and flexible working practices, that benefit both the employer and the individual, will characterise the High Performance work place of the future and be key tools in maximising potential in these workplaces.

The work life balance campaign has a clear part to play. We will deliver through a campaign strategy comprising the following elements:

  • continuing to provide support to business for the adoption of new, or further, Work Life Balance best practice measures;
  • continuing to generate and disseminate research and case studies that demonstrate the impact and benefits of Work Life Balance measures to business and the individual;
  • work in partnership with organisations across the country to mainstream Work life balance policies;
  • stimulate initiatives on a regional basis; and
  • review and refine our work based on feedback from research, case studies, and what you and our stakeholders tell us.
