Construction
Statistics Objectives
|
|
- To
provide timely and appropriate economic advice and
analysis on the UK construction industries on issues
such as competitiveness; productivity; sustainability;
competition policy; and the appraisal and evaluation
of the impact of government policies on the industry.
|
- To
advise on market based policy options and to develop
and co-ordinate the construction directorate's Budget
representation.
|
- To
lead the work of expert industry analysts to produce
a regularly updated report on the state of the UK
construction industry.
|
- To
ensure the availability of timely, relevant and
reliable statistics on the construction industry
so as to better inform Government policy and the
efficient workings of the construction market.
|
- To
develop and improve the collection of the national
construction statistical data so as to take proper
account of the concerns of key stakeholders, such
as the compliance cost to the industry, and to make
best use of technical developments such as the increasing
opportunity for e based solutions.
|
- To
maintain a close partnership with users of UK construction
statistics through the division's website and publications;
the Consultative Committee on Construction Industry
Statistics; and the service level agreements with
other government departments.
|
- To
take a lead in the successful development and dissemination
of industry and directorate performance measures;
and in the co-ordination of industry measurement
through the national benchmarking forum.
|
- To
ensure that all staff have, or are helped to acquire,
the necessary skills and management support to fully
meet their objectives, in accordance with the principles
of IiP.
