The Trade Policy Section at DTI maintains bilateral relations with third countries and regional groupings with the aim of developing open and competitive markets for UK companies. We do this by:

  • Projecting UK policies for the removal of trade barriers
  • Promoting a new round of multilateral trade negotiations as the prime means to secure further liberalisation and avert dangers of protectionism
  • Working to avoid and control trade disputes
