Promoting economic reform

In the global economy, our economies are all interdependent.

Action taken at home needs to be complemented with action taken on the international stage - working with other Governments - to have real impact.

The UK is inextricably linked to the EU. More than half our trade is with Europe. With 3 million jobs linked to this trade.

Britian's membership of the EU impacts positively on all of us. It provides business with access to the world's largest and richest market; parents and employees with fundamental rights and it helps to protect every British consumer.

One of the key roles of this Department is to work effectively with our partners both at home and in Europe to ensure that the EU continues to deliver benefits to all its citizens.

This work takes many forms and covers many issues. You can find out more information on those that might affect you by clicking on the subjects in the menu on the left-hand side.
