Better Buildings Summit - 21st October 2003, Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre

The Better Buildings Summit was held on 21st October in Queen Elizabeth II conference centre. The event was aimed at CEOs, or equivalent, within construction and energy industries, and other groups (eg finance) which have an interest. The theme of the Summit was to deliver, better, greener buildings, faster. It considered both new build and refurbishment, particularly concentrating on:

  • Energy efficiency 
  • Renewable energy 
  • Related issues (eg minimising waste; conserving water)

The Summit aimed to:

  • Examine Best Practice
  • Identify clear action routes [and question existing]
  • Review government role & policy framework
  • Review supply chain/industry process as delivery mechanism
  • Consider what more we can do - as government; as industry
  • Consider how we can work together to decarbonise building stock - what do we need to do?
