QUINQUENNIAL REVIEW OF THE INSOLVENCY SERVICE 2000

On 16 May the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Consumers and Corporate Affairs, Dr Kim Howells, MP announced a Quinquennial Review of the Insolvency Service.

Following Cabinet Office guidance the Review examined first the organisational options for the delivery of Insolvency Service functions. The Review then examined whether any changes should be made to the way in which the Insolvency Service operates, including its aims and objectives, targets and financial controls; the scope of the activities undertaken; and whether its activities could be done more effectively.

STAGE 1

The results of stage 1 of the Quinquennial Review were announced by Dr Kim Howells on 24 January 2001. The stage 1 report is to be found here

STAGE 2

The conclusions and recommendations of Stage 2 of The Insolvency Service Quinquennial Review 2000 have now been approved by DTI Ministers.
