PUBLICATION SCHEME PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 19
OF THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000
1INTRODUCTION
This is the Department of Trade and Industrys publication
scheme drawn up under Section 19 of the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. The purpose of this publication scheme is to set out:
- Classes of information we commit to publish as a matter of
course
- How this information will be published
- Whether the information is available free of charge or on
payment.
Information about the FOI Act is available from the Open Government
and Data Protection Unit.
The DTI Publication Scheme has been designed to help you find out
how we carry out the purpose and aims of the Department. In summary,
these are to increase competitiveness and scientific excellence
in order to generate higher levels of sustainable growth and productivity
in a modern economy. To achieve this purpose, we aim to:
- Promote enterprise, innovation and increased productivity.
- Make the most of the UK's science, engineering and technology.
- Develop strong, competitive markets within a regulatory framework
which promotes fairness and sustainability.
- Enhance competitiveness of Britain's companies through overseas
sales and investments; and a continuing high level of quality
foreign direct investment.

FORMAT
AND FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Our publication scheme may be made
available in Braille, video, textphone, audio-cassette, CD and large
print at the Departments discretion and subject to demand.
DTI
does not routinely publish its documents in languages other than
English and certain documents in Welsh. The scheme may be produced,
at the Departments discretion, in other languages subject
to demand. Our Welsh
language scheme is available on the web and in hard copy
from DTI Publications Orderline in both Welsh and English.
DTI
EXECUTIVE AGENCIES AND BRITISH TRADE INTERNATIONAL
DTI is
responsible for seven Executive Agencies and (jointly with the Foreign
and Commonwealth Office) for British Trade International. This scheme
embodies the sub-schemes and the specific commitments we make with
regard to our Executive Agencies and BTI. Individual sub-schemes
